blessing blockers.

jealousy. lust. gossip. bad attitudes. unwillingness to forgive. disobedience. sarcasm. lack of gratitude. selfishness. envy.

these are just some things that can block the blessings in your life. my mother and i were talking the other night and she said, “tony, i don’t want you to get upset when i tell you this. i just want you to think about it. we all have ‘off moments’. and i think you should take a look at what your ‘off moments’ are and see if it is blocking the blessings God has for you.” i genuinely thanked her. although it’s difficult to hear when someone you deeply love points out the wrongs in your life, it only grows you to become the better person you were meant to be.

the God of heaven longs to bless each and every one of us. in fact, He wants to empty heaven for you. “…And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.” (Malachi 3:10) but it is essential that we check out our lives and look to see what is blocking the blessings God has for us…and for them! “Every blessing has an assignment attached to it.” – Bishop Paul Lanier. the blessings God gives us is not for us to keep, but instead to advance His kingdom. [for example, as you may know, I am currently jobless. therefore, i have much “down time”. i look at this as a blessing from God. i am able to serve in a local soup kitchen, or go through old clothes to give away to the needy.] look at what God has blessed you with and then investigate the assignment that is attached to it. there may be a blessing blocker in your life that is hindering your or someone else’s breakthrough.

this is just some thoughts that i had after the conversation with my mother. it was yet another “analyzing tony” moment. i encourage you to check out what in your life is blocking your blessings!

Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”
