1 peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
colossians 3:14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
October 20, 2010 :: spirit day. in recent news, tyler clementi, along with other students across america stole the spotlight in the news arena. these students sadly committed suicide after reportedly being bullied for being gay. spirit day is a day dedicated to the many that are bullied. on spirit day, we are to wear the color purple to remember these young students as well as show the rest of these taunted students across america that there should be no tolerance of bullying, for any reason.
i must weigh in on this national day of dedication. throughout high school, i too was bullied for my not-so-masculine tendencies. i must say, those experiences have made me who i am today. i am stronger than ever before and i know who i am! although, my Christian faith doesn’t agree with the homosexual lifestyle, i must stand behind those that are bullied for their differences. there should be no tolerance for taunting. love is louder.
we are called to love our neighbor with the love of Christ. do you get that?!?! HIS love should permeate through us to those similar and different from us. differences doesn’t necessarily mean defective or wrong. i challenge you to find differences in others and truly accept them. who knows what those that are different from you can offer to you or society.
to those who may be struggling with their identity, i want to tell you – it gets better! i must write what i believe, and i believe we will not be happy with ourselves until we find our identity within our Creator and His word. find who you are and your differences and capitalize on them!
finally, regardless of who are you – you are loved. love is louder. john 3:16 for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
